Walking tour in Lyon

This walking tour will make you discover the city center of Lyon, the 2nd biggest city in France, and the historic capital of the Gauls; It is also considered as the gastronomic capital in France, thanks ot a great culinary tradition. Visit Lyon walking is the best way to enjoy this marvelous town, with a mixture of beautiful architecture going from the first to the second millenium.

A-B; Visit the Presqu'île starting from the place Bellecourt then go up the Rue de la République until you reach the Opera of Lyon and the main City Hall,
C-D: Go to the other side of the town hall to see the main facade of the city hall and Place des Terraux
E-F: Go Down the street Rue du Président Edouard Herriot until you reach Rue de Grenette, than go to the right until you reach Rue Mercière
Go down rue Merciere which is a beautiful historic street full of bars and restaurants, until you reach Place de Jacobins. Just before Place des Jacobins, you can see to the left, the Passage de l'Argue where you can find beautifuk traditional shops.
G- Take on the right Rue de l'ancienne prefecture to Reach Quai Saint Antoine; Cross the bridge in front of the Palais de Justice (the old court house).
H- Go left to the Saint Jean Cathedral
Visit the cathedral and the amazing 17th century clock inside
Take the Saint Jean Street to the end
Then when you reach Rue St. Francois vernay and do the opposite direction by taking Rue de la Juiverie and Rue du Boeuf. When You reach the Hotel La Cour des Loges; Visit the inner courtyard of the Hotel and enjoy the beautiful Architecture of this building, which gives you an good idea about the Architecture of all the buildings in the Vieux Lyon.
When in Rue Saint Jean, try to enter into buildings with a metal plate outside signifying it is a historic building. They are usually opened during the day and you will discover the famous Traboules. They are inner courts allowing you to go from a street to the paralle one, passing through these beautiful historic buildings.
J- Continue to the end of the street until you reach again to find the Saint Jean Cathedral to your Left.
In four hours you will have visited the Presqu'ile and the Vieux Lyon, composing the historic part of the Capital of the Gauls.Less
