Balboa Park, San Diego

Balboa Park is situated in the north-east of San Diego in California. He is a beautiful piece of land with huge areas of abundant, green meadows, lots of flowers and trees in bloom. Balboa Park is famous for its lovely landscapes and gardens, spread across an area of approximately 5 square kilometres. The park was designated one of the largest parks in the world by Project for Public Places in 2003 for combining the horticulture with art and culture.
There are more than eight gardens including the beautiful Alcazar garden - winner of several awards, the Rose Garden, the Japanese Friendship Garden and the historic Botanical Building. In addition to the open areas and the natural vegetation, the park hosts a variety of cultural attractions, including museums, theatres, shops and restaurants and also the San Diego Zoo.
Most attractions are in El Paso, a long driveway that passes through the center of the park. Here are the park's museums, such as the San Diego Museum of Art, Museum of Photographic Art, Science Center and Reuben H. Timken Museum of Art. Many of the buildings lining the street were built in the Spanish Renaissance style.
The Botanical Building, with the pond with flowers in the foreground is one of the most photographic scenes from Balboa Park and it is a destination that should not be avoided. It was built for an exhibition in the years 1915-1916 and it is one of the most impressive structures in the world.
The Botanical Building planting include more than 2,100 permanent plants, including fascinating collections of cychas, ferns, orchids and other tropical plants and palm trees. In here, it can also be seen some of vibrant seasonal exhibitions.Less
